an update on engi : The engi team has come up with a new idea for this year. They are organizing something called a technite....... they plan to have a laser show by professionals..and show case other technical videos.... they aim it to analogous to the pro-nites of inci..and expect it to the biggest crowd puller....!!!!
i myself appreciate the idea very much..... they are holding an open meeting today 15th of October , 6p.m. , at the special stage(ss).... all those who have good ideas in mind or are interested..please do attend the meeting.... this is an initiative from their side and it shouldn't go in vain.... so people do attend the meeting... and contribute your ideas... see you there!

........

srry 4 d delay yash..neways..
i think the biggest problem has been holding the college crowd back during the fests...even during last year's engi lad sir (engi jt. con) was telling me that the biggest headache he faces is not marketing or publicity but its holding back the crowd....even we know engi wasa hit...still the root problem remains unsolved....
The very basic feeling of belongingness is missing ....this is affecting the fests 2 the worst extent...dont we feel like feel like celebrating festivals like deepavali,id,holi with our family at home....????? this is exactly the atmosphere during the festivals at iits/iims......jus that the home is replaced by campus and family by collegaues..alas i dont even find an iota of that feel here...

a possible or should i say THE ONLY REMEDY is involving MORE and MORE people...reasons being a aplenty...
1.greater number of helping hands facilitate work..
2. 2 heads think more than one, 4 heads more than 2.......thus we get more "creative ideas".. something that has been missed throughout....
3.after all it is a college fest .....and helping organise and 2 make it better is the fundamental right of every nitkian...denial of the same leads to a very strong feeling of resentment......

Ultimately the situation boils down to taking the fests viz incident, engineer to the masses.....
one thing that surely would have catalysed the process is an open forum/newsletter...tbut a timid response to dis idea shows the reluctance of organisers towards inviting more helping hands....
instead of the final years taking up all the workload, the burden must be equally distributed amongst all years 1st yrs and 2nd yrs especially since its they who are going to take tha mantle later on...
some of my detractors may argue how much do i know about the "behind the scene intracacies" 2 comment on them so harshly..??
TRUE. i dont know any thing....but hav i been given a chance to know nething ....yr after yr its has been only a "few select "ppl handling everythin ranging 4m finance, marketing publicity etc...

i can say wid utmost surity that only a hand ful of us in 3rd yr know what exactly is the way a fest is organised...arent the signs obvious...dont we ourselves prepare for the doomsday...??????

Rang de Basanti !!!

hello friends!

"indians are good at identifying the problems ...... but not at solving them!!!"read some where....

lolz... no hard feelings , but we just proved that right at our blog..... :)

now we have talked about the problems and we feel nice about ourselves.

i look at the name of the blog "Incident & Engineer" and a passing idea comes to my mind...

its a fest right?abbreviation of festival .... so why don't we make it look like a festival!!!!

during incident we can have the "whole college " decorated and light up..... every lane filled with light and enthusiasm.. so that anyone who is even passing by the college comes to know that there is some "festival " going on!! what say people..
we spend a lot of cash in other things.....
and this wont require a large portion of the funds...
we can lit up the whole college..the boys block area..the road from atm to 8th block... like the dc road is lite up.... outside boundary of the college can also be decorated...with big big banners every where... a fest that not only feels like a festival for one who is attending it but also attracts every passer by's attention.....
this is one of the ideas me and my friends came up with when we saw dark lanes of our blocks and 8th block road..and many other places....

Also .... if feasible we can have speakers planted at different places in the college....inside the blocks.... and have full day radio.... may be hosted through the lan! we some rj's who keep the crowd interested everywhere in the colg..and also keep informing them about different events going on at different places....
i think this might also help giving a feel for the fest!!
will look forward for your inputs....
also do come up with all ideas possible.... on anythng....
it might be on the t-shirt design...
some exhibition you think we should hold..
some event you think should be put up..
suggestions on involving the whole college in the fests...
anything just anything...all suggestions are invited....
keep posting !

Wat will be the content of the forum?
Please let me remind you, the forum is public where all details can be seen by corporates and participants who probably we would not like to show wat goes on behind the scenes. The forum has been ready since a long time. All it needs is a signal to go ahead.. but we need content for the forum. Once the problem statements are ready... (I hope u know the intricacies and difficulties of getting them ready).. The forum will be activated (which will be pretty soon)..
Newsletter : Same thing.. Wat do you want as the content of the newsletter?? Do you want to know we approached company XYZ for ABC and he refused?? No info is withheld from anyone.. In the suggestion box, ask any question about any happening or plan... U'll get all info u want. Ask anyone of the team.. They will tell you all they know.
All your suggestions were not replied to by a bot.. Just because we sign it as "team engineer" and not names.. Please don't think it is an auto-reply which we send to all. All mistakes pointed out have been rectified at very short notice. Event suggestions were given deep consideration.. (probably the automata team will testify that)

"@PUNEET SIR"

tHANX for being such an active member of this blog...

Firstly about the forum.... how many colleges come to our fests ???? i think around a 100... and am sure they l find enough time and interest to go through "our forum and what is goin on" before coming for the fests...

and i didnt know that "corporates " (i think you mean the sponsors) also find so much interest in what is goin on behind the scene ..i jus thought they look at the college name and the sponsorship brochure...and their interest behind funding the fest....
didnt know that they have so much time for it.... :)
Thanx for the info...

Secondly ...you talked bout "they l come to know what goes on behind the screens" ...puneet do you even know what i suggested the forum for ??? what objective i sought for it??
i don't think so... :)
the purpose in mind was ..same as this blog... "having a healthy discussion...and sharing ideas..contributing...involving the 'whole college'(whole college...this will be one of the keywords throughout this blog)..and coming up with a fest that shows the strenght and capability of the college...

i didn't intend discusing finer and confidential details of the fest...
i come log into the forum..i have certain ideas .certain things that i think can improve the fest..i just vent it out in the forum..and help the college fest get better....
the fest is not for the corporates or not for the 'handfull' people who organise the fest...but it for the whole college...
"atleast...atleast the college people attend the fest..."

content of the forum...
well i can be descriptive on that..
thanx for asking... this is the first interest shown in this direction..it can be as follows..

as i have described above , the forum is just a place for the people to interact..to know about what is being going on..to involve the whole college... to have brainstorming sessions..
i don't think the handfull group is enough to make the fests a sucess..it highlights the spirit and capability of the college ...which is far more than that of 40-50 people..
the strength that we have we donot need to look up to fest like mood i or springfest ..we can do much better than that ..but just with the contribution from all the extraordinary minds of the college people...
That is what the content of the forum can possibly be..
'A HARMLESS AND HEALTHY DISCUSSION TO MAKE THINGS THE WAY THEY SHOULD BE....'.. that is it puneet no further...not venting 'details' of the fest...

(before coming up with this blog i very well knew what all goes behind the fest and i very well know the intricacies behind coming up with the problem statements ...
and i think they can be reduced to a large extent by taking contribution from one and all...)

thirdly.... if you are still concerned about letting out the details of the fest..we have have it private..limited to the use of our colg.. by hosting it locally..its not a very difficult task...
so i think that problem is solved..

and am happy that the forum is coming up soon...

and since you are asking me evrything and you have gone through the contents of the "suggestion box" i l tell you what can be the contents of the newsletter:

a small example:
Updates of this fortnight are as follows:

=> the problem statements for fantasticity have been finallised by us.. and it is as follows
"the problem statement"
=> we have come with thsi idea for the informals ...tell us how you like it : vist the form :"the web adress of the forum"

=> one of the engi videos have been prepared, it is shared on the ip "172.16.xx.xxx". telll us how u like it.. we are open for suggestions for the next video...

=> we are facing difficulty in finallising the details of chemical brakedown , interested contact "blah blah blah".

=> this is the list of the events we have come up with...open to suggestions.

upcoming work:

=> goin to the xyz company

=> going to NIT calicut for publicity

=> inputs needed on the theme of incident/engineer.

and it goes on....

this way you tell people about what has been done already and what is the work ahead...
you inform the whole college of the work that has been put it2..
they respect you for the work you have been doing...
they l feel like the fest is their own..and their inputs are important
they l be more involved than ever..
the whole process will make thinngs transparent..
leaving the students with no complains..
encouraging a healthy discussion.. and bettering of the fest...

i think that will be more than enough for the content...

puneet sirji...it is not about withholding the information from us...we not accusing you or anybody of anything, its not some fight or an argument...
it is a zest for making things better..
its not about people coming to 'you' and 'you' giving them the info they want.... it is about involving the whole college in the fests .. many are already not interested y will they come to you for info on "which comapny denied you funds..." ...we are seeking to make them interested buddy..
nobody is asking you for anything..but you have tpo give them..so that they feel belongingness to the fests...

and i am not saying that i didn't like the replies or anything...its ok..i dont expect "YOU" to reply to them personally or any of the "organaizing team members".. but atleast implement the good ones...
am not saying you people havent done it...or won't do it...i am just requesting you to do it in future....

plz don't take it personally its not about me... or you..
i didn't start this blog for that..you can see many people are contributing to the blog..its not about my ideas not getting accepted or implemeted...it's just the general thing that is happening and that needs a change..demanded not by me..but everyone single person who don't enjoy their own college fests...

once again i thank you for your inputs please keep them on.... :)

An initiative..

Hello ppl this blog is regarding our college fest incident and Engineer. This is not official blog for these fest. This blog is for students who all are interested in making our fest better.

we felt that our fests should have a newsletter, published atleast evry fortnight, which aims at updating the students of the work that is being done and informing them about what lies ahead. So that more and more people get themselves involved in the fest.conveying the message that this is thier fest and not a handfull people's and accepting contributions from anyone and everyone.hence encouraging participation ,publicity and awareness regarding the fests.

after many mails to the concerened people and a few personal persuasions, this has not yet been implemented!!!!and the idea is waved off saying it needs some brainstorming!!!!

our blog is not with respect to resentment regarding this happening, but to change things around us.
"WE"(All of third years ) will be the ppl oraganizing these fests next year.So it is our responsibility to take up the work from now on.

but before all this ,the question that arises in our mind is...how many of us are actually interested in making the fest better????
how many of us stay back during the fest????
those who dont ..y dont they??
do we like and participate cultural and technical fests organised by colleges like "iits".....?
y is their's better and ours nt??

are we happy with our organising structure?we are not!!!!
do we lack in any respect???well we don't.....then y?

y?
y?
y?
y?

we dont stay back for the fests because we are not interested!!!!!!!!!
a: abe incident ke liye rukh rahan hain kya???
b: nahi yaar...kya karna hain!kuch logo ko fest hain...unko aish karne de...

m nt staying back because this fest is like any other thing happening...i dont know anything about it,its a colg fest and there is no sense of belongingness to it!!

in the starting of the odd semester a meeting is held with the agenda of "increasing participation and involving evryone" a small notice is put up, and as a result a handfull of ppl turn up for it!!!! and after the meeting it is reduced to a handfull amongst them- those who called for the meeting.
This is done every year as a formality and nothing is done beyond that! The fest finally is organisedby those handfull......
do any of us agree to the fact that those are enough for making "our fest a success" ???
well they are not!a fest is made succesfull by the whole college...
and that is exactly what we intend to next year...
we want to involve the whole colg into the functioning of the fests next year by doing whatever it takes....
looking forward to your inputs....
